Bridesmaid by JB

Our Policies

Everything you need to know before ordering, from measurements and production to alterations, delivery and our showroom. Clear expectations help us give every bridal party the level of service and craftsmanship they deserve.

Last reviewed September 2026

Beautiful dresses. Clear expectations.

Every Bridesmaid by JB dress is individually handmade rather than selected from finished stock. Because of this, our ordering process works differently to a traditional high-street retailer.

Please read these policies before placing your order. By ordering from Bridesmaid by JB, submitting measurements or confirming production details, you acknowledge the policies applicable to your order. Nothing within these policies limits any statutory rights you may have under UK consumer law.
Policy 01

Our 22-week deadline

Our production diary is capacity-led. To protect every wedding already booked into our studio, we operate a firm measurement and order deadline.

The rule

All required measurements, design choices and outstanding information must be received no later than 22 weeks before your wedding or event date.

This deadline allows us to reserve production capacity, source and allocate fabric, prepare individual patterns, cut, manufacture, quality-control and dispatch bridal-party orders in an organised production schedule.

Our current production lead time is approximately 14–16 weeks, but the 22-week submission deadline gives the studio the additional scheduling capacity required to manage multiple bridal parties fairly.

If measurements are late

Orders cannot remain indefinitely in our production diary without the information required to manufacture them. If complete measurements and confirmations have not been received by the communicated deadline, we may be unable to fulfil the order for the required wedding date.

We cannot make exceptions simply because an order is only one or two days late. Once capacity has been allocated to another bridal party, accepting a late order can impact every customer scheduled behind it.

Where Bridesmaid by JB determines that the order can no longer reasonably be fulfilled because the required information was not provided by the deadline, we will contact the ordering customer regarding the next steps applicable to their order.

Policy 02

Ordering & payment

An order can only move through our handmade production process once we have everything needed to make it accurately.

Before production can begin, we require:

01. Full payment

All order and applicable additional invoice balances must be cleared.

02. Measurements

All required measurements must have been submitted and approved.

03. Final design

Style, colour, customisation and dress length must be confirmed.

04. Order information

Wedding date and all required customer information must be complete.

Production will not begin while required information or payment remains outstanding. Where appropriate, an order will remain with our administration team until everything required to manufacture it has been supplied.

Payment methods

  • Major credit and debit cards
  • PayPal where available
  • Klarna where offered at checkout and subject to Klarna's own eligibility requirements

Your production timeframe relates to the period after your order becomes production-ready. Dispatch and courier transit time are additional.

Policy 03

Amendments, cancellations & made-to-order goods

Because our dresses are created specifically for an individual customer, we begin committing materials, pattern work and production capacity specifically to that order.

Our 5-day courtesy amendment period

Bridesmaid by JB offers a 5-calendar-day courtesy amendment period from order confirmation, provided bespoke production work, fabric allocation, cutting or other irreversible order-specific work has not already commenced.

During this period you may request reasonable changes to matters such as:

  • submitted measurements;
  • colour;
  • dress design;
  • agreed customisation details; or
  • other production information.

Requests must be made in writing by email. Changes requested through social media, telephone calls or messages to individual staff members are not treated as formal order amendments.

Once production is authorised

If you expressly confirm that we may begin work before the end of the courtesy period, or order-specific production has otherwise begun with your agreement, subsequent changes may no longer be possible.

Cancellation

Many Bridesmaid by JB garments are made to individual measurements and specifications. Where an item falls within the legal definition of goods made to a consumer's specifications or clearly personalised, the normal statutory change-of-mind cancellation right applicable to many distance purchases may not apply.

We nevertheless provide our own 5-day courtesy period described above where no irreversible bespoke costs or work have yet been incurred.

Cancellation requests received after this period will be considered individually but are not automatically accepted. Where we voluntarily agree to cancel a bespoke order after work or expenditure has begun, any refund offered may take account of reasonable, evidenced and non-recoverable costs already incurred in fulfilling that specific order.

Policy 04

Measurements & final fit

Your measurements are the foundation of your dress. Made-to-measure means we manufacture using the measurements approved for production — it does not mean a body can never change or that every garment will be alteration-free.

How measurements can be submitted

1

In our showroom

Measurements may be taken by a member of our team and recorded for approval.

2

Online

Measurements may be entered as part of the online ordering process.

3

Measurement submission form

Existing customers may submit measurements through our dedicated form.

Approval matters

Measurements submitted or signed off for production are treated as the measurements the customer has authorised us to use.

Even where a Bridesmaid by JB team member physically takes a measurement, the measurement record presented for approval must be checked and confirmed by the customer or authorised bridal-party representative.

Body changes after measurements

Human bodies naturally fluctuate. Weight, pregnancy, hormonal changes, medication, exercise, posture and many other factors can change how a garment fits after measurements have been taken.

Important

Where the completed dress corresponds with the measurements approved for manufacture but the wearer's current measurements subsequently differ, adjustments required because of that change are not a manufacturing fault.

Shoes & dress length

The heel height worn when dress length is determined is critical. Bridesmaids should finalise their wedding shoes before their final shoulder-to-floor / length measurement wherever possible.

If different shoes or a different heel height are worn after length has been confirmed, any resulting change required to the hem is treated as an alteration rather than a manufacturing error.

What does made-to-measure actually mean?

We use the measurements approved for each bridesmaid to select, adapt and manufacture from our established pattern system. The garment is made specifically for the individual rather than being selected as a finished stock garment from a rail.

Fabric stretch, individual proportions, posture, bust support, heel height, movement and fit preference can all influence how a completed garment feels when worn. Small finishing adjustments can therefore sometimes still be required.

Will Bridesmaid by JB question unusual measurements?

Our team may flag measurements that appear inconsistent and may request that they are checked. Ultimately, however, we cannot override measurements that a customer confirms are correct.

Can measurements be changed once production begins?

Usually not. Once patterns have been prepared, fabric cut or manufacture commenced, changing measurements can require the garment to be reconstructed or remade. Any possible changes are therefore assessed individually and may incur additional charges.

Policy 05

Junior bridesmaids & children's dresses

Children can change size considerably between ordering and a wedding, so children's sizing requires a different approach from adult made-to-measure.

Junior and flower-girl dresses are produced using the size or measurements approved at the time of manufacture.

We cannot predict precisely how much an individual child will grow before an event. The parent, guardian or ordering customer is therefore responsible for deciding whether additional growth allowance should be incorporated.

Our recommendation When there is significant time before the wedding, it is generally safer to allow reasonable room for growth because a dress that becomes slightly generous can usually be reduced more easily than a garment that has become too small.

Alterations required solely because a child has grown or changed proportions after measurements or sizing were approved are not considered a manufacturing fault.

Policy 06

Pregnancy, postnatal changes & body changes

We regularly dress pregnant and postnatal bridesmaids and are very happy to advise, but future body measurements cannot be predicted or guaranteed.

Before production

Please tell our team if a bridesmaid is pregnant or expects that significant body changes may occur before the wedding. This enables us to discuss potentially suitable designs, sizing allowances and production timing.

Once measurements are approved

Your dress will be manufactured from the measurements and sizing decisions authorised for production.

Pregnancy, postnatal changes, weight fluctuation or other subsequent changes to the body do not retrospectively make a correctly manufactured dress faulty.

Please remember

No business can accurately predict how an individual body will change during pregnancy. Any future-size recommendation is guidance rather than a guarantee.

Where technically possible we may be able to offer paid alteration work, additional fabric or other solutions, subject to our production capacity, design construction and fabric availability.

Policy 07

Custom designs & customisation

Our core collection is built around established Bridesmaid by JB patterns which have been repeatedly produced, fitted and refined. Customisation changes that equation.

Customisation can include, for example:

Necklines & straps

Changing necklines, straps, sleeves or upper-body construction.

Skirt changes

Changing skirt shape, split placement, length or train proportions.

Combined designs

Combining elements from different Bridesmaid by JB dresses.

New concepts

Producing inspiration-led or substantially bespoke design elements.

A structural change can affect tension, weight distribution, support, stretch, balance and how fabric behaves when the wearer moves.

For that reason a customised garment cannot be guaranteed to sit or behave identically to an original showroom sample, photograph, previous order or unmodified version of the dress.

Customisation acknowledgement

By requesting a customisation you acknowledge that additional finishing adjustments may occasionally be necessary after the completed garment is tried on. Alterations arising solely from the requested custom design, individual fit preference or subsequent body change are not automatically regarded as manufacturing faults.

Policy 08

Alterations

Altering a handmade dress means carefully opening finished construction, adjusting the garment and reconstructing it to achieve the required finish.

A request for an alteration does not automatically mean the original garment was incorrectly produced.

Alterations may be required because of:

  • changes between submitted and current body measurements;
  • pregnancy or postnatal body changes;
  • changes in shoes or heel height;
  • individual preference for a tighter or looser fit;
  • posture or proportion differences;
  • children's growth;
  • customised design behaviour; or
  • other changes occurring after measurements were confirmed.

Our alterations assessment

Where a fit concern is reported, we may request photographs, videos, current measurements and/or the return of the garment before determining what work is required and whether it is chargeable.

Please allow us to inspect the dress first. If a garment is independently altered, cut, unpicked or structurally changed by another seamstress before Bridesmaid by JB has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect an alleged production issue, it can become impossible for us to establish the garment's original condition.

We cannot accept responsibility for the workmanship, pricing or outcome of alterations undertaken by an independent third party chosen by the customer.

Please refer to our dedicated Alterations page for our full assessment process, timescales and current alteration charges.

Policy 09

Manufacturing faults & quality control

Every garment passes through our in-house quality-control process before dispatch. If something does not look right when it arrives, we want to assess it properly.

Reporting a concern

Please inspect your dresses promptly after delivery and contact us as soon as reasonably possible if you believe there is a manufacturing fault. We ask that visible concerns are preferably reported within 7 days so that they can be investigated quickly and while the garment remains in its delivered condition.

We may request:

  • clear photographs and video;
  • current measurements;
  • the original approved measurements;
  • information about how the garment has been tried on; and/or
  • return of the dress for physical inspection.
Your legal rights remain unaffected

Our requested reporting procedure does not remove or restrict any statutory rights available to you in relation to faulty goods.

Where an issue is confirmed, the appropriate remedy will depend on the circumstances and the customer's applicable legal rights. This may include repair, alteration, replacement or another remedy where legally appropriate.

Handmade characteristics

Our garments are individually cut and sewn rather than mass-produced by automated manufacturing. Very small differences in stitching, seam positioning or internal finishing may occur between handmade pieces and do not necessarily indicate a defect, provided the garment remains of satisfactory quality, fit for its intended purpose and consistent with its description.

Policy 10

Colours, fabrics & dye batches

Colour is one of the most beautiful parts of choosing your bridesmaids, but textiles and screens do not reproduce colour identically in every environment.

Dye batches

Fabric can vary slightly between dye lots. We therefore strongly recommend that all dresses for the same bridal party are ordered together wherever possible.

Dresses purchased through separate orders cannot be guaranteed to originate from the exact same roll or dye batch.

Screens, photography & lighting

Colour appearance varies depending on screen calibration, brightness, daylight, artificial lighting, camera equipment and photographic editing.

Order a fabric sample. A physical swatch viewed in person and in the lighting relevant to your wedding is the most useful way to assess colour before committing to an order.

Professional wedding photographs shared on our website or social channels may have been colour graded or edited by the photographer and should therefore be treated as inspiration rather than an exact digital colour reference.

Policy 11

Appointments & showroom etiquette

Our showroom is a working part of Bridesmaid by JB and contains handmade samples created specifically for brides to experience our collection.

Booking an appointment

We are a capacity based business and can not reserve or guarantee future showroom appointments. If you know that you want to visit us before committing to your final design, please secure the appropriate appointment at your earliest convinience.

Appointment fees & cancellation

Appointment types and current prices are displayed when booking. Appointment payments compensate for dedicated showroom and stylist time.

Please refer to the cancellation terms shown at the time of booking. Where the applicable appointment terms require advance notice, appointments cancelled outside that notice period or not attended may be non-refundable.

Arriving at the showroom

Please arrive at your booked start time. If you arrive late we cannot normally extend your appointment beyond its scheduled finishing time because another bridal party may be booked immediately afterwards.

Looking after our dresses

Please avoid fresh fake tan, transferable body products and heavy make-up when trying our samples. We also ask that jewellery capable of catching or pulling fabric is removed before trying dresses on.

Where a sample suffers exceptional staining or damage as a direct result of unreasonable handling during an appointment, Bridesmaid by JB reserves the right to seek reasonable costs attributable to cleaning or repair where legally appropriate.

Children

Due to concrete flooring, large mirrors, garment rails and the working nature of the showroom, young children should not attend appointments unless they are themselves being fitted as part of the bridal party.

Breastfeeding parents are of course welcome to bring their baby. We simply ask for consideration of other appointments taking place within the showroom.

Food & drinks

External food and drinks should not be consumed around our handmade showroom collection. We have a water refreshment station at our sofa area to help yourself to.

Policy 12

Shipping, collections & delivery

Once production is complete, your dresses still need to pass through final quality control and our packing process before they leave the studio.

Dispatch

Please allow approximately 2–3 working days following completion for final quality checks and packing where required.

Our quoted 14–16 week production timeframe relates to manufacture rather than courier transit time.

UK delivery

UK orders are normally dispatched using a tracked Royal Mail service or another tracked carrier selected by Bridesmaid by JB. Tracking details will be provided once available.

Responsibility during delivery

Where Bridesmaid by JB arranges the carrier, responsibility for the goods remains with us until they are delivered into the physical possession of the customer or another person identified by the customer to receive them, subject to applicable consumer law.

Address accuracy

Customers are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address. Additional delivery costs caused by an incorrect address supplied by the customer, or by a parcel being returned for reasons attributable to the recipient, may be chargeable.

International delivery

International orders may be subject to import VAT, customs duty, handling fees or other charges imposed by the destination country.

Unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout, such destination-country charges are payable by the recipient and are not included within Bridesmaid by JB's product or delivery charges.

Customs authorities operate independently of Bridesmaid by JB, so we cannot guarantee customs clearance times or quote the final import charge imposed by another country.

Lost, delayed or damaged parcels

If tracking indicates a delivery problem, please contact us so that we can investigate with the relevant carrier. Customers should retain packaging and photograph any visible transit damage as soon as reasonably possible.

Showroom collection

Collection must be arranged after we have confirmed that the order is ready. Responsibility transfers to the customer when the garments are handed into the physical possession of the customer or their authorised collector.

Policy 13

Communication & contacting us

A written communication trail is essential when we are coordinating multiple dresses, measurements and production details for a wedding.

General enquiries hello@bridesmaidbyjb.com
Complaints / escalation toni@bridesmaidbyjb.com

Order communication must be by email

Instructions, amendments and confirmations relating to an existing order must be sent by email so that our team has a clear and auditable written record.

Social-media direct messages are not an accepted channel for production instructions and should never be relied upon for time-sensitive amendments.

Who we can discuss an order with

To protect customer information and prevent conflicting instructions, we normally communicate about the order with the purchasing customer using the email address registered against the order.

Where another person needs authority to manage the order, we may require permission from the purchasing customer before discussing order-specific information.

Response times

We aim to respond to emails within approximately 48 working hours Monday–Friday, although this may occasionally be longer during peak wedding season or periods of exceptionally high enquiry volume.

Time-sensitive emails

Please put your wedding date and order number in the subject line rather than relying upon words such as “URGENT”.

Our team prioritises genuine deadlines according to wedding date and production stage so that the brides who are closest to their events can be supported first.

Policy 14

Respect & behaviour

Respect works both ways. Our team will communicate professionally with our customers and we expect the same standard in return.

Bridesmaid by JB operates a zero-tolerance approach to threatening, discriminatory, abusive, intimidating or harassing behaviour towards members of our team, whether in person, by telephone, email or online.

Our team has the right to work without abuse.

Where behaviour crosses that boundary, we may restrict the method of communication, appoint one contact person, terminate an appointment or take other reasonable steps necessary to protect our employees.

Serious threats, harassment or other potentially unlawful conduct may be reported to the relevant platform, authorities or police where appropriate.

Any decision concerning continuation of an outstanding customer contract following serious misconduct will be dealt with in accordance with the contract and applicable law.

Policy 15

Website information, lead times & availability

Bridesmaid by JB is a capacity-led handmade business. Availability and lead times can therefore change as our production diary fills.

Information supplied months previously by email, social media, during an appointment or through an older version of our website may no longer reflect our current capacity.

Customers should therefore check the current website information or contact us before relying upon historical guidance when deciding when to place an order.

Prices and collection availability

Product prices, available colours, appointment options, services, designs and lead times may be updated prospectively as our business and costs change. Changes do not retrospectively alter an already confirmed contractual price unless a separate change to the order is agreed.

Website errors

Occasionally the website may contain a typographical, technical, pricing or product-information error. Where an error affects an order, we will contact the customer and deal with the matter in accordance with applicable consumer law.

Policy 16

One final thing

Please understand the process before you order.

Our policies are not designed to make bridal shopping difficult. They exist because each order moves through a real production studio, involving real people, fabric, patterns, cutting, sewing, quality control and carefully allocated capacity.

By giving every customer the same clear boundaries, we can protect our team, protect our production diary and provide the standard of handmade service that Bridesmaid by JB has been built upon.
